Microstock Stats for February 2011

February month was great on Shutterstock for me!  I am up 41% there this month, I guess all the hard work and uploading is paying off. Overall I created about 150 new images this month. I have uploaded all those to my ShutterStock gallery and I will upload them to all my galleries as well.I still need to find a better system for uploading to all my sites, I lose track of what images I have uploaded where.  Overall I am UP 19.22% total across all sites so that is a great increase.

Arnita Rehart - Appreciate for the insightful post. I was trying to subscribe to your RSS feed, but I couldn’t seem to get it working with Google Reader. Is there a problem, or is it just me (I’m a hopeless technophobe!)?

Karen - Hi Melissa,

Help! any other stock shooters being audited by CRA??! Up until now, I have written off 100% travel, modeling, etc Now the CRA says that I can claim 0% andI am having to take them to court to challenge this decision. Have you heard of any other photographers that write off travel costs? modeling? if so, how much? where did you get your information for your fact sheet? to build my case, so that other photographers aren’t gouged by the tax system, I need as many examples as we can to prove that this is an industry standard. Any help you can give, is appreciated.
thanks!
Karen

Tamisha Marquette - Yet another thing to mention is that an online business administration study course is designed for scholars to be able to well proceed to bachelor degree education. The 90 credit diploma meets the lower bachelor college degree requirements so when you earn your associate of arts in BA online, you will possess access to the most recent technologies on this field. Several reasons why students are able to get their associate degree in business is because they can be interested in this area and want to find the general training necessary in advance of jumping in to a bachelor college diploma program. Thanks alot : ) for the tips you really provide with your blog.

Tyler Olson - MicrostockGroup - Hey there,

nice graphs 🙂 It is nice to see the increase / decrease graphed as a bar graph. I might have to start doing that as well. It makes it quite clear who is performing and which sites are loosing steam.

Stu - Hey Melissa! Two questions: it sounds like there’s a lot of effort required to upload your images to all the various sites, have you ever considered building your own site and selling D2C? Secondly, which wordpress theme is this? 🙂

Melissa King - Hi, Thanks for the comment! There is effort in the uploading but then all the marketing is done for you.. The stock companies already have buyers on there sites waiting for new photos to be uploaded. I have not uploaded in a few months now and I am still making money off the photos which I have already uploaded even 5 years ago.
